市场也有出售「吉祥带」、「吉祥结」的绸带，冲太岁的人们将之系在腰间、手腕上，坊间称这 样便可消解灾祸、化凶为吉。在传统上，红色辟邪，红色吉祥，过年放爆竹也是红色，这种观念早在原始社会就已经存在，红色是太阳的颜色，是火的颜色，人们把太阳和火称作神，大家都认为红色能趋吉避凶，消灾免祸。
The market also sells “auspicious ribbons” and “lucky knots” made of silk. Those clashing with Tai Sui tie them around their waists or wrists, believing they can dissolve misfortune and turn adversity into luck. Traditionally, red is associated with protection and good fortune. Firecrackers during the New Year are red for this reason. This belief dates back to primitive societies—red is the color of the sun and fire, both once regarded as divine, and believed to ward off harm.
